Crowds at Verbier Ski Resort
Verbier is currently the busiest slopes that I have ever been on. The slopes themselves, are tight and limited in options. What this meant was that if you are looking for groomed runs, then expect to see a lot of people on them. This is especially true for the blue runs, the amount of children and adults doing the pizza down the blue slopes was terrifying.
The crowds were so awful, that I did not even make it to one portion of the mountain. After standing in line for awhile, I gave up and remained in the area of the slopes I was already at.
The best way to enjoy Verbier is with the off-piste skiing. There are plenty of easily accessible off-piste runs from the lifts. Most advanced skiers will opt for this and allow the intermediate and beginners on the groomed runs. The options for off-piste range from intermediate to advanced, as degree of the slopes were varying, it was just dependent on your ungroomed skiing abilities.

Verbier is a great location to start a ski trip in Switzerland. Located just two hours away from the second largest international airport: Geneva, it’s easy to reach by a rental car and travel from there.
If you don’t want to worry about driving, then there is always the option of taking the train to Verbier.
From Geneva you can expect high-speed trains from Geneva stop to Le Châble, only 10 minutes from the centre of Verbier. The train hub is just at the base of Verbier, and easy 10 minute lift to the town center.
Where to Stay in Verbier
If you are considering stay in the city centre of Verbier, expect to pay a decent amount. I stayed at the W in Verbier, which was one of the most expensive hotel stays I have had. This did not include half-board or parking. My stay at the W was good, but wasn’t spectacular.
I enjoyed the close vicinity to the ski lift, and that I could ski right to the front door of the hotel. Other than that, there was nothing remarkable about the hotel other than the price tag that came with it.
The price of hotels comes with the luxury resort lifestyle that comes with Verbier, I do not anticipate it would be much different at the other hotels along the strip.

Price for a Ski Trip to Verbier
Any ski trip to Switzerland is going to be expensive. Of all the resorts in Switzerland, I would say that Verbier is the most expensive. While on par with Zermatt on the price scale, I found that Zermatt had more hotel options and variety. Whereas Verbier proper seems to focus on luxury hotels.
Switzerland is not known for the half-board like resorts in Austria. This means trips to Verbier has to include dining out. The restaurants that I ate at in Verbier were amazing (check out Aiseki Sushi), however the price tag was painful.
If you have a problem with shopping, then be prepared to spend more. Verbier streets are lined with restaurants, bars, and some of the top brands. I personally spent a small fortune on cashmere sweaters that have been a bucket list purchase for me. There are plenty of other popular brands along the road including: Burton, Patagonia, and more.
