When you first start hiking cathedral rock the trail is easy. You will gradually climb through a dirt trail to the base of the rock formation. Starting at the rock formation you will need to spot pillars that are the signs for the trail. Once on the base of Cathedral Rock the climb with slowly growing more difficult as you go from step to climbing up Cathedral Rock.
The first half of the trail can be completed by anyone as the start is pretty easy, even the climbing part is easy enough.
However, at about halfway, you will find a part where you will have to climb up a small crevice in the rock. This part is where the difficult aspect of the climb begins.

The time it takes to Hike Cathedral Rock
The hike is short being only a mile and a half roundtrip. However, the hike grows gradually more difficult. You will reach the base of Cathedral Rock within the first 20-30 minutes (depending on if you are stopping to take photos).
However, at the halfway point the climb grows more difficult as you will be using your hand and feet to climb up portions of Cathedral Rock. This is more time consuming, especially if there are people there as this portion of the trail can only be used by one person at a time.
If you are confident in your balance, and climbing abilities this hike could be completed in an hour. However, if you like to be gradual, stop for photos and are anxious about climbing up the rock face then the safe estimate is closer to 2 hours.

Recommended Hiking Attire
The general hiking attire is perfect for this hike.
The one note I would make is to ensure that your footwear has sturdy grips on the bottom as you will be using your feet to grip, pull yourself, or shuffle along the rock wall.
Additionally, due to the desert environment, it is best to wear a form of long pants to avoid any sort of brushes with cactus against your skin.
You can get to the halfway point in flip flops – but given the path is dirt I would highly discourage wearing any sort of open footwear.

Facilities at Cathedral Rock
To reach Cathedral Rock you will be driving through what appears to be a suburban neighborhood – if you are like me then you will be a bit confused as I thought the GPS was completely lost in where it was going.
Parking at Cathedral Rock
Cathedral Rock trail is located in the back area of a winding road (pretty small too) that has no outlet. Right when you think you are about to hit a dead end you will find the small parking lot where the start of the hike to Cathedral Rock is.
This is a small park. The parking lot is small (approximately 15 cars) and there is a machine to pay parking passes that need to be displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle.
Right next to the parking lot is an outdoor toilet. Which means there is no running water at the toilet.
