While I can’t recall the exact amount, it was reasonably priced overall. What surprised me was the distinct pricing – 10,000 MNT for Mongolians and three times that, 30,000 MNT, for tourists.
Inside the Complex
First Floor
On the first floor, you will find some larger than life displays of traditional Mongolian items such as a giant Gutul (Mongolian boot). There are also souvenir stands and shops to purchase trinkets.
Basement
The lowest portion of the complex you will find the history of the ger. There are displays showing how gers have changed over the years and how the inside and materials have changed and modernized. You will see that most of the persons displayed in the gers are very finely dressed – my tour guide explained to me that most of the costumes featured are festival or important occasion attire – she stated she hasn’t seen some people wear the outfits in a while.
The ger development is interesting though, as you will see how the gers changed from the nomadic culture supporting farming. Then progressing in agriculture but still keeping the traditional layout – but now with TVs, and electricity.

Top Floors
The part that most people come for is to climb to the top and view the Genghis Khan Statue from the viewing platform. From here you are standing right in front of the silver statue of the infamous leader.
There are views out over the surrounding valley from the top as well.
The interesting part though is the warning signs for pickpockets when you head up to the viewing platform. Not sure if the signs were just precaution, or if this is a serious issue at the complex.
Surrounding Area Activities
Just outside the complex, you will find some traditional Mongolian tourist activities to do.
There is a ger that had fermented horse milk – a boozy drink to drink. This drink a majority of Mongolians started drinking from a young age and are very accustomed to the taste. However, to me, it tasted very much just like spoilt milk. The taste was bitter and strong.
Another item to check out is some of the trained birds of Mongolia on display. You will see the vultures and eagles that Mongolia is famous for.
Then there is the option of horseback riding or camel rides through the valley.
If you’re interested in exploring more – look into a tour out to the Ger Camps to visit the Flaming Cliffs or the Gobi desert.
Views of Genghis Khan Statue
The statue is large, and from outside the complex you will find there are plenty of great views. I wouldn’t say you really need to pay to enter into the complex if you are on a budget. If you are looking to just visit and see the statue, then there is plenty of great viewpoints just from the parking lot and the walk-up.
